SALEM, Va. -- Kinston mashed 14 hits, but it wasn't enough in a 12-6 loss against Salem on Tuesday evening.

The Avalanche snapped the K-Tribe's seven-game win streak despite three-hit efforts from Michael Aubrey and Chris De La Cruz. Aubrey homered and drove in three runs.

Nearly every Kinston player who entered the game produced a hit.

Salem sent 10 men to the plate in the fifth inning. The Avalanche pushed five runs across against K-Tribe starter Ryan Edell (3-2), who eventually took the loss.

Edell surrendered five earned runs in a three-inning stint.

In the sixth, Salem sent 10 more batters to the plate. The result was another five-run uprising that halted Kinston's seven-game win streak, its longest since 2004 when the K-Tribe opened the season 10-0.

Chris Salamida (2-3) threw six innings with no earned runs.

Kinston (26-15 overall) maintained its five-game lead over Winston-Salem in the Carolina League's Southern Division. The K-Tribe concludes its three-game series with Salem tonight.

Game time is 7:07 p.m.
