ZEBULON -- Huntsville utilized a big inning for the second straight game and disposed Carolina 10-2 on Sunday afternoon at Five County Stadium.

One day after scoring 13 runs in the eighth inning, the Stars (18-17 overall) pushed across five unearned runs in the sixth inning to pull away from Carolina (14-23).

Shortstop Chase Lambin committed a throwing error to begin the uprising, then reliever Scott Nestor fired a throw into center field to aid the Stars' frame.

Gaby Hernandez (2-4) worked the first five innings, yielding six hits and five runs to absorb his second straight loss. Nestor worked two frames allowing five unearned runs. Harvey Garcia, one night after allowing four runs without retiring a batter, fanned five over two innings.

Carolina took a 1-0 lead in the first inning against Manny Parra (W, 4-1). Grant Psomas tripled in front of the dive in left field by Ulyses Davenport, then scored on a wild pitch.

That run would practically be the extent of the Mudcats' offense. Carolina scored its final run in the seventh when Jose Campusano walked as a pinch-hitter, was pushed to second on another walk, then advanced a base on two successive groundouts.

The teams continue their series today. Game time is 7:15 p.m.
