The seniors for Eastern Wayne closed out senior night with a dominating performance by blanking Kinston 8-0 on Friday night.

It was only fitting that the Warrior seniors did most of the damage on the scoreboard.

Senior Samantha Frazer recorded a hat trick and an assist to lead the way.

Fellow seniors Natalie Taylor found the back of the net twice while Kasie Edwards and Morgan Vogt both tallied goals.

The Warriors put 18 shots on target as they improved to 10-7 overall and finished with an 8-2 mark good for second place in the Eastern Carolina 3-A Conference.

Eastern Wayne will next play the winner of Charles B. Aycock/Southern Wayne on Wednesday night in the ECC tournament.

Heavy schedule can't

stop Rosewood

Playing its third game in the past four days, Rosewood again put together a strong performance against a Carolina Conference rival as they beat Spring Creek 10-4 on Friday night.

Thanks to Princeton's win over North Johnston also Friday night, the Eagles are now all alone in second place in the CC.

Matt Neal threw five quality innings for Rosewood, allowing three runs (two earned) on four hits, walked two and struck out five to pick up his fourth win on of the season.

At the plate, Rosewood Community College signee David Smeltzer finished 3-for-4 with three RBIs while Cody Richards finished 3-for-3 for the Eagles.

Chris Hare, Holt Rains, Goss Kendall and Garrett Howell all posted two hits apiece as Rosewood banged out 11 hits against the Gators' pitching.

For the Gators, Ray Grady had two hits, including a double while Josh Gammon had a two-run double.

Kevin Prunest took the loss by allowing five runs in two innings.

Spring Creek drops to 9-12 overall and 1-7 in the CC.

Rosewood improves to 15-4 overall and 6-2 in the CC. The Eagles next travel to North Duplin on Tuesday.

Princeton picks up

two victories

PRINCETON -- Princeton took care of North Johnston in Carolina Conference action on Friday night 6-5 and then took down Cary Academy 10-0 on Saturday.

On Friday night, Princeton was led by Dustin Pate's two-run homer and Colin Parker who finished 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI.

North Johnston got a two-run homer from Matt Narron.

Against Cary Academy on Saturday, the Bulldogs got a two-run bomb from Dustin Pate while Colin Parker contributed two hits including a double and a RBI. Andrew Cobb helped the Princeton cause with three hits, including a triple and two RBIs.

The victory improves Princeton to 14-6 overall and a perfect 8-0 record in the Carolina Conference. The Bulldogs next take the diamond on Tuesday when they play host to Ayden-Grifton.
