After a week-long vacation, area prep teams return to action today.

Two women's soccer games, each a showdown for first place in their respective conferences, highlight the slate. Also on tap is a rematch of last Friday's Deacon Jones Invitational baseball title contest.

Eastern Wayne entertains Class 3-A Eastern Carolina Conference soccer leader Wilson Hunt at 7 p.m. Hunt won the previous meeting 5-3 in Wilson. Wayne Country Day, unbeaten in three Coastal Plains Independent 1-A soccer games, plays host to unbeaten and No. 1-ranked Faith Christian-Rocky Mount at 4 p.m.

On the baseball scene, Carolina 1-A foes Rosewood and Princeton meet for part II of what promises to be a thrilling baseball series this spring. The Eagles edged the Bulldogs 7-6 in eight innings.

George Whitfield Classic champion Charles B. Aycock returns to the ECC and faces Kinston -- the lone team to beat the Golden Falcons in league play this season. Wilson Hunt is the guest of Eastern Wayne and Wilson Beddingfield invades Southern Wayne.

All four games start at 7 p.m.

In Dudley, the Saints-Bruins' softball game promises to be a dandy. Southern Wayne (5-1 ECC) pulled out a 2-1 decision over Beddingfield in their previous meeting nearly a month ago.

Wayne Country Day puts its unbeaten mark on the line in men's tennis with a home match against Greenfield School. Carolina 1-A archrivals Rosewood and Spring Creek meet in Seven Springs.
