Three area baseball teams continue their quest for Easter holiday championships, while a fourth opens defense of its title today on the southern coast of North Carolina.

Charles B. Aycock and North Lenoir meet in today's semifinal-round play of the second annual George Whitfield Invitational. Game time is 6:30 p.m. at Kinston High School. The Hawks won the previous meeting in Pikeville and carry a 13-game win streak into the contest. The Golden Falcons (11-3 overall) have defeated six straight opponents.

The winner opposes either two-time state champion D.H. Conley or defending Whitfield Invitational title-holder Lee County at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.

In Greenville, Eastern Wayne toppled Carrick 11-1 in five innings and advanced to the semifinals of the Jimmie R. Grimsley Hot Stove League tournament. The Warriors (8-7) oppose nemesis J.H. Rose at 7:30 p.m. today on the Guy Smith Stadium diamond. The teams split their regular-season series.

Southern Wayne begins defense of its Diamond Beach Classic crown today at West Brunswick High School. The Saints (5-9) face Bishop Ireton (Va.) in a rematch of last year's championship game at 4 p.m.

Daily admission is $5 for each tournament.

Faith Christian entertains Wilmington Christian Academy in baseball and softball at 3:30 p.m. today.
