The Goldsboro Cougars defeated North Lenoir 89-61 at the Cougar Den on Friday night in Eastern Plains 2-A action.

Tim Kornegay led the Cougars with 24 points and seven rebounds. Eric McLean added 16 points and four assists and Daquan Joyner flirted with a triple-double by scoring 10 points to go with eight rebounds and seven blocks.

Goldsboro improves to 13-9 (3-5) and will next play host to Greene Central on Tuesday night.

Princeton loses

heartbreaker in 2OT

Princeton and North Johnston needed two overtimes before the Panthers finally prevailed 67-60 in Carolina 1-A Conference play.

North Johnston jumped out to a 57-51 lead in the second overtime and made their free throws down the stretch to hold off the Bulldogs.

Daniel Gerrell led Princeton with 19 points and 15 rebounds while Josh Barefoot added 10 points and 19 rebounds.

The difference in the game was Princeston missing 15 of their 32 foul shots.

The Bulldogs drop to 14-8 (5-3) on the year and will next face Ayden-Grifton at home on Tuesday night.

Faith Christian is surprised

by Fellowship of Durham

DURHAM -- Despite Aaron Sladick's 26 points, the Faith Christian Conquerors fell to Fellowship of Durham 67-63, in non-conference action.

T.J. Sasser tallied 14 points for the Conquerors who saw their 18 game winning steak snapped.

Faith Christian falls to 19-2 on the season.

Wilson Hunt wins big

over Aycock

WILSON -- Wilson Hunt jumped out to a 16-4 first quarter lead and coasted to a 71-34 victory over Charles B. Aycock in Eastern Carolina 3-A Conference action.

Alex Peacock led the Golden Falcons with 13 ponts.

Aycock (0-22, 0-8) will next host Eastern Wayne on Monday night.

Williams' late free throw

gives WCS victory

With Faith of Rocky Mount leading Wayne Christian 48-47, Nick Woods made one of two from the line to tie the game.

Shea Gleasman then came away with a steal and got the ball to Eric Williams who was fouled on his drive to the basket. Williams connected on the free throw to give the Eagles a 49-48 win.

T.A. Brannan led Wayne Christian with 13 points and nine rebounds. Gleasman contributed 12 points and Eric Williams added 10.

Wayne Christian improves to 10-9 (5-5) and will next host North Wood Temple on Tuesday.

Kinston has no trouble

at Southern Wayne

First place Kinston dominated Southern Wayne from the opening tip and routed the Saints 104-42, Friday night in Eastern Carolina 3-A Conference play.

Orlando Davis led the Saints with 10 points while Anthony Vick and Jonathan Hart both tallied eight.

Kinston improves to 20-2 (7-1) with the victory.

Greene Central defeats

Farmville Central

FARMVILLE -- Reggie Johnson's 20 points led five Greene Central Rams in double-figures, leading the Rams to a 79-75 victory over Farmville Central on Friday night in Eastern Plains 2-A Conference action.

Chevalier Howell had 14 points, Albert Barron 12 while Brandon Sutton and Trey Davis both chipped in with 10 points for the Rams.

Greene Central moves to 15-6 (7-1) and will next travel for a showdown with Goldsboro on Tuesday night.

Ayden-Grifton beats

North Duplin

AYDEN -- North Duplin led briefly 7-6 in the first quarter before Ayden-Grifton poured it on as the Chargers won 71-53 in Carolina 1-A action.

The Rebels were led by Chris Graham who had 19 points while Doug Lloyd added 11.

North Duplin drops to 2-12 (2-6) this season.

Southern Wayne

falls on last second shot

With the game tied at 49, Kinston's Shaquala Rhodes hit a running one-hander with 3.8 seconds to play, giving Kinston a 51-49 vicotry over Southern Wayne.

The Saints had a chance at the end, but a desperation 3-pointer fell short at the buzzer.

Kinston imrpoves to 6-13 (3-5) with the road victory.

Aycock falls

short to Wilson Hunt

WILSON -- Jazzmine Lee's 19 points wasn't enough for Charles B. Aycock as they fell on the road to Wilson-Hunt, 58-50 in Eastern Carolina 3-A Conference action.

Jasmine Dobbin chipped in with 10 points for the Golden Falcons and Chantel Gaines finished with nine.

"The girls played really hard tonight," said Aycock coach Carrie Reynell. "Unfortunately, we just came up a little short tonight."

Aycock falls to 8-13 (3-5).

Greene Central victorious

over Farmville Central

Brianna Stanton's 20 points and Shanice Pettaway's 19 led the Greene Central Rams to a 62-50 road win over Farmville Central in Eastern Plains 2-A action.

The Rams (12-9, 6-2) will next travel to Goldsboro on Tuesday.

Gators hold

off Rosewood

Joseph Willis scored 12 points to help the Spring Creek Gators hold off a late run by Rosewood and win 47-41 on Friday evening.

Cody Richards added 10 points for the Gators who improved to 10-7 (6-2).

Courtland Jones led Rosewood (3-16, 1-7) with 18 points while Brian Kornegay chipped in with 14.

Southern Wayne loses

to Kinston

Bilante Thompson's 16 points wasn't enough to lead the Southern Wayne to a win as Kinston defeated the Saints 66-56.

Dallas Sutton added 10 points for Southern Wayne who fell to 10-11 (1-6).

Aycock slips by

Wilson Hunt

WILSON -- Led by Kyle LaFlamme's eight points, Charles B. Aycock defeated Wilson Hunt 38-37, Friday night.

The Golden Falcons improve to 9-3 (5-3) and will next host Eastern Wayne on Monday.
