Faith Christian boys claim third straight NCCSA Coastal 2-A title

Three-peat complete.

The Faith Christian boys' basketball team claimed its third consecutive Class 2-A N.C. Christian Schools Association Coastal Regional title with a 68-50 trouncing of Trinity Christian-Greenville on Thursday evening.

The Conquerors (19-1 overall) finished a perfect 10-0 in region play and seized the No. 1 seed for the NCCSA Coastal Region tournament, which begins Feb. 16 at Berean Christian in Fayetteville. They also clinched an automatic bid to the state playoffs in late February.

Sladick celebrated Senior Night in grand style with a double-double -- 28 points, 11 rebounds. Fellow senior T.J. Sasser provided 12 points, six assists and five steals. Blake Plummer supplied 11 points and seven rebounds.

Alan Ray Darby, also a senior, contributed two points. Nathaniel Patel, who also graduates, played and did not score. Underclassmen Taylor Stocks, Austin Webber and Jeremy Sandlin combined for 15 points in the double-digit victory.

Faith Christian travels to Fellowship Christian of Durham today. Coach Jeff Stocks' team is the guest of 3-A Bethel Christian on Monday, and concludes regular-season play Feb. 13 at Liberty Christian-Durham.

The Conquerors' junior varsity boys turned back Trinity 48-31.

Brad Floars and Josh Spencer pumped in 18 and seven points, respectively, for Faith Christian, which improved to 15-1 overall.
