Sladick, Sasser lead Faith Christian attack

GREENVILLE -- Aaron Sladick poured in a game-high 22 points as Faith Christian hammered Trinity Christian 62-41 in non-region action Thursday evening.

T.J. Sasser added 20 points for the Conquerors, who climbed to 12-1 overall heading into today's home game against Liberty Christian-Fayetteville. Taylor Stocks chipped in eight points and Blake Plummer tallied four.

Josh Harris paced Trinity's attack with 21 points.

Three SC players

reach double figures

LITTLEFIELD -- Freshman Desmond Raiford collected a double-double -- 15 points, 10 rebounds -- in Spring Creek's 68-56 loss at Carolina 1-A Conference foe Ayden-Grifton.

Kevin Winn added 13 points, including nine from 3-point range. Josh Wright contributed 12 points and dished out a team-high three assists. David Harris pumped in eight points, grabbed six rebounds and picked Ayden-Grifton for four steals.

"Look for better things from the Gators," said Spring Creek coach Sonny Kilpatrick. "We are coming (along)."

Steffen McGhee led the Chargers with 21 points. Tanner Carnes chipped in 20 points, while Matt Dougherty tallied 18.

Spring Creek (2-11 overall, 0-2 Carolina) plays host to Rosewood today, while conference co-leader Ayden-Grifton (9-5, 2-0) is the guest of North Duplin.

drops road game

GREENVILLE -- Trinity Christian rallied from a first-quarter deficit and turned back Faith Christian 37-33 on Thursday evening.

Trinity trailed 12-8 after one period, but outscored the Conquerors by six points in the second quarter. Trinity pulled away in the final period and claimed its fourth victory in 11 outings.

Lindsay Godwin emerged Faith Christian's top scorer with 11 points. Kristen Maddox added seven, while Elizabeth Hill scored five.

Faith Christian entertains Liberty Christian-Fayetteville today.

GREENVILLE -- Josh Spencer provided a team-high eight points in Faith Christian's 37-22, non-region victory over Trinity Christian on Thursday afternoon.

Drew Floars chipped in seven points and Eric Powell knocked down six points for the Conquerors, who improved to 8-1 overall.

Faith Christian plays host to Liberty Christian-Fayetteville today.

Middle schools

Mount Olive boys 40, Greenwood 36 -- Octaveous Oates and Carlos Council provided 13 and 11 points, respectively, for the Trojans. Mount Olive improved to 7-2 overall and travels to Grantham on Tuesday.

Eastern Wayne girls 28, Grantham 5 -- Tierra Smith emerged the Warriors' top scorer with 12 points. Shante Boseman and Maurriel Baker contributed four points apiece. Eastern Wayne (7-2) is the guest of Dillard on Wednesday.

Greenwood girls 47, Mount Olive 27 -- Shamori Worrell scored 23 and Janelle Daniels added 13 points for the T-Birds. Greenwood climbed to 7-2 overall.

Norwayne girls 38, Rosewood 17 -- Ivey Hartsell pumped in 10 points and Courtney Gilbert contributed eight points for the Cobras. Kendra Speight and Imari Howell added six points apiece. Angelica Knight paced Rosewood's attack with nine points. Norwayne improved to 8-1, while Rosewood fell to 0-9.

Dillard girls 27, Brogden 22 -- Tiffany Thompson led the Tigers with 16 points, while Machiya Maye chipped in 11. April Johnson scored 14 for the Rams. Dillard (7-2) entertains Eastern Wayne next Wednesday.
