Trojan women seek CVAC win at Lees-McRae

After splitting four non-conference games, the Mount Olive women's basketball team resumes Carolinas-Virginia Athletics Conference action Saturday as the Trojans travel to Banner Elk to take on Lees-McRae. Tip-off is 2 p.m.

Mount Olive (4-5 overall, 1-2 CVAC) hopes to get back on the winning track after a pair of close losses at home to CIAA teams. The Trojans overcame an early 14-point deficit Wednesday against Shaw, but eventually fell 65-58.

Freshman forward Helen Moore (14.3 points per game) and sophomore guard Tomeka Prichard (12.3 ppg) are both averaging in double figures for the Trojans. Sophomore forward Alisa Jones leads the Trojans in rebounding with 6.6 boards per game. Junior point guard Keona Corley continues to spark the Trojans on both ends of the floor, averaging 7.1 assists and 4.4 steals per game. Corley has recorded 12 assists in each of her last two games.

Sophomore Brittney Robich, who had scored in double figures in her first 28 collegiate games, has reached double digits in two of her last three games.

Lees-McRae (2-5, 0-2) is coming off a 90-37 loss Thursday at Division I Radford. Mount Olive has won each of the last five meetings against Lees-McRae, including a 104-57 victory over the Bobcats in the first round of last year's CVAC Tournament.

Saturday's contest begins a three-game CVAC road trip for the Trojans. Mount Olive's next home game is one week from Saturday against Erskine.
