Mount Olive falls to West Virginia State in OT

INSTITUTE, W. Va. -- Mount Olive led by seven points at halftime, but tournament host West Virginia State rallied for a 94-93 win over the Trojans in the John Dickensheets Classic on Tuesday as Kendrick Easley led four Trojans in double figures with 23 points as Mount Olive had its five-game winning streak snapped.
Mount Olive (7-3) led for the entire first half and took its first double-digit lead with 13:18 remaining as Elijah Rouse's dunk highlighted a mini-run and gave the Trojans a 21-10 lead. The Trojans built the lead to as many as 16 points after Rouse's tip-in with 8:17 left in the half extended Mount Olive's advantage to 37-21.
West Virginia State (7-1) cut the Trojans' lead to single digits and Alfred Walsh's basket with 25 seconds left pulled the Yellow Jackets within 44-37 at halftime.
West Virginia State took its first lead at 53-52 with 15:47 left in the game, but Easley's three-pointer seven seconds later put Mount Olive back on top. The next six minutes saw eight lead changes and three ties before Easley's three-point and Elton Coffield's basket gave the Trojans a 75-71 lead with 9:35 remaining. Coffield added 20 points for MOC, while Streeter came within a rebound of recording his third consecutive double-double with 18 points and nine rebounds.
