Adult Church League basketball

Any church interested in playing adult league church basketball this year please contact Donnie King at 922-3557, Michael King at 922-9020 or Mike Jordan at 921-6131. There will be a mandatory meeting for all teams and coaches held on Thursday night Jan. 4, at 6:30 p.m. at Eastern Carolina Athletic Park in Goldsboro. For more information visit www.ecaaball.com.

National Babe Ruth umpires clinic

The N.C. Babe Ruth State Clinic is scheduled for Dec. 30 at the ECAP. The registration period is from 8:30-9 a.m. and the clinic will run until 5 p.m. The clinic is for all umpires interested in umpiring Babe Ruth baseball and all coaches are encourage to attend. King Pin Scratch Open

The 2nd annual King Pin Scratch Open is scheduled for Jan. 12-14 at AMF Boulevard Lanes in Goldsboro. Entry fee is $100 per squad. First prize is $5,000. For more information, telephone Clarke Hill at 394-6713 or AMF Boulevard Lanes at 735-6358.

George Whitfield Clinic

The 35th annual George Whitfield Clinic, the longest-running one-day clinic in the United States, is scheduled for Jan. 12-13 in the Goldsboro High cafeteria. A supper and induction ceremony for the newest Hall of Fame members is scheduled for Jan. 12 at 6:30 p.m. The clinic, slated for the following day, begins with a registration period from 7:30-9:15 a.m. Included in the agenda is world champion water skier Kristi Overton Johnson, who will deliver a clinic kickoff speech. A brief rules change session for high school baseball is scheduled for 9:45 a.m. The clinic concludes at 6 p.m. For more information, telephone Whitfield at 778-6013.
