NEWTON GROVE -- Rosewood fell behind 20-11 at halftime and fell to Hobbton 51-38 in non-conference play Wednesday night.

Joey Boyette scored 16 points to lead the Eagles while Holt Rains added eight.

The loss drops Rosewood to 1-5 who next plays host to Midway on Friday.

FAYETTEVILLE -- State-ranked Trinity Christian-Fayetteville turned a slim halftime lead into an 87-62, non-conference victory over Wayne Country Day on Tuesday evening.

Trinity, ranked No. 1 in the N.C. Independent Schools Athletic Association Class 1-A poll, led 38-34 at halftime. The Crusaders erupted for 32 third-quarter points and grabbed a 70-49 lead after three quarters.

Floronta Wynn paced Wayne Country Day with 26 points. Kam Byrd chipped in eight, followed by Ajay Fowler with six. Kyle Pender and David Wilson each contributed five points.

The Chargers (4-5) are the guests of Terra Ceia on Friday.

James Kenan

gets first win

Jamian Smith and Sean Wilson each scored 10 points in James Kenan's season-opening, 55-39 victory over Rosewood on Tuesday afternoon.

Adrian Dunrahj and Joey Boyette pumped in 10 points apiece for the Eagles, who dropped to 1-4 overall. Stephen McIntyre and Holt Rains provided seven and six points, respectively.

Rosewood traveled to Hobbton on Wednesday.

North Duplin falls

in season opener

CALYPSO -- Jodie Williamson delivered a team-high 15 points in North Duplin's season-opening, 63-41 loss to Lakewood on Tuesday evening.

Jessica Pridgen added 12 points for the Rebels.

Kirston Carr led three Lakewood players in double figures with 17 points. Nikki Devincentis contributed 16, while Margo Newkirk pumped in 12.

North Duplin (0-1) travels to Hobbton on Friday.

Lauren Houston knocked down a team-high 10 points for James Kenan in a 39-32, non-conference victory over Rosewood on Tuesday evening.

Kasie Braswell led Rosewood with 14 points.

NEWTON GROVE -- Rosewood came within two points of picking up their first win of the season, dropping a 55-54 decision to Hobbton on Wednesday evening.

Joseph Willis led the Eagles with 17 points while Cody Richards added 14.

Rosewood, now 0-6, next playst host to Midway on Friday.

Greenwood boys 51, Spring Creek 24 -- A.B. Scott scored 12 points and pulled down eight rebounds to lead Greenwood to the easy victory over Spring Creek. Greenwood improved to 2-2 with the win.

Northwood Temple boys 29, Wayne Christian 22 -- Chase Darden led the Eagles with 14 points, while Chase King tallied seven. Wayne Christian (4-2) fell to 1-1 in Carolina Christian 1-A Conference play.

Greenwood girls 37, Spring Creek 19 -- Greenwood improved to a perfect 4-0 (3-0) with a victory over Spring Creek, Wednesday evening. Samaria Rolls scored a game-high 18 points for Greenwood, while Spring Creek got a team-high 14 from Ashley Parks.
