Faith Christian finishes second at Southeastern Tournament

RALEIGH -- The Faith Christian varsity boys basketball team lost to Raleigh Christian 68-57 in the championship game and finished 2-1 overall in the Southeastern Tournament.
Aaron Sladick led the Conquerors with 18 points, while Jeremy Sandlin scored 16. Sladick and Sandlin were named to the all-tournament team.
Faith Christian opened tournament play with a 63-37 victory over Maranatha (S.C.) Christian. T.J. Sasser pumped in 23 points and Sladick provided 21.
The Conquerors advanced to the title game with a 61-27 rout of Cramerton Chrsitian. Sladick and Sasser emerged the top scorers with 25 and 14 points, respectively.
C.B. Aycock
falls to Tarboro
PIKEVILLE -- C.B. Aycock showed improvement, but still didn't have enough to pick up its first win in a 72-42, non-conference loss against Tarboro.
David Gurganus led the Golden Falcons with 10 points, while Qwantay Poole scored nine.
C.B. Aycock (0-2) travels to Greene Central today.
South Johnston
drops Princeton
PRINCETON -- The Princeton Bulldogs dropped their first game of the season, losing at home versus South Johnston 84-59.
Daniel Gerrell led the Bulldogs attack with 14 points.
Princeton (2-1) entertains Rocky Mount Prep tonight.

Tarboro slips

PIKEVILLE -- Tarboro edged C.B. Aycock 46-44 in non-conference play Monday afternoon.
Tucker Pearson and Kyle LaFlamme each scored 10 points for Aycock.

In Friday's edition, information regarding Division I baseball signees at C.B. Aycock was incorrectly reported to the News-Argus. Lee Grant signed an NLI with UNC Wilmington in 1995 and Ray Grantham actually signed with Division II Norfolk State.
In Monday's edition of the News-Argus, it was incorrectly reported that Rosewood freshman Luke Davis wrestled at 112 pounds in the Falcon Invitational V. Davis tied for third in the 119-pound division.
