Chris Bartley, a senior on the Mount Olive College men's basketball team, will miss at least the first two months of the 2006-07 season due to a torn achilles tendon, it was announced by Trojan head coach Bill Clingan. Bartley is currently recovering from surgery for the injury, which occurred during preseason workouts.

Bartley, a 6-5 forward from Jacksonville, started in 31 of 32 games last season, averaging 7.4 points and 3.8 rebounds per game. He shot 42 percent from three-point range.

After wearing a cast following surgery, Bartley is now wearing a boot on his left foot. According to Mount Olive head athletic trainer Mike Ingle, Bartley may be able to return to action in February, prior to the end of the regular season.

Mount Olive concluded its exhibition season Saturday and begins its regular season Nov.16-17 as the Trojans play host to the 41st Annual Pickle Classic.
