SNOW HILL -- The streak ends at 10.

Farmville Central snapped Greene Central's 10-game win streak against Class 2-A Eastern Plains opposition with a 34-26 upset Monday evening at the James R. Fulghum Athletic Complex.

The Rams' win streak started two years ago at Tarboro.

"Farmville Central was well-prepared and they outplayed us down the stretch," Greene Central coach Jim Bob Bryant said.

Greene Central (8-2 overall, 3-1 EPC) led 26-20 when William Brown connected with Harrison Walston on a 5-yard touchdown pass. The scoring play came on a fake field goal.

But the Jaguars (7-3, 4-0) refused to give up. Five plays after the Rams' score, Farmville quarterback Brandon Austin hit Marquis Lawrence for a 44-yard touchdown pass that tied the score at 26-26.

The Rams took over. Lawrence intercepted Greene Central quarterback Cameron Shelton and returned the ball to the 28. Two plays later, Charles Hayes caught a 23-yard touchdown pass from Lawrence for a 32-26 lead. Immanuel Cox's conversion run provided the final margin.

"Our quarterback made two tremendous plays," Farmville Central coach Dixon Sauls said. "What a great game. Our team wouldn't give up."

The win puts Farmville in the driver's seat for the EPC championship. If the Jaguars defeat Tarboro Friday at home, they'll win the league title.

Offensively, the Jags were led by Austin, who rushed for 103 yards and one TD while throwing for 115 yards and three more scores. Richard Williams added 94 yards and a score for FC.

Greene Central was led by J.J. Thompson, who rushed 21 times for 113 yards. Walston caught eight passes for 83 yards and a score.

The Rams close their regular season on Friday at North Lenoir.
