Farmville Central defense stiffens after first quarter

Farmville Central limited Goldsboro to a single touchdown the final three quarters of play and exited with a 35-18 victory on the Class 2-A Eastern Plains Conference scene Friday evening.

The Jaguars (6-3) remained tied with state-ranked Greene Central atop the league standings at 3-0. The teams meet next Friday in Snow Hill.

Goldsboro's Jamar Branch snagged first-quarter touchdown passes of 67 and 21 yards from quarterback Tim Kornegay. The first scoring strike occurred just 21 seconds into the game.

Branch finished with 176 yards receiving, while Kornegay threw for a season-high 208.

Treme Boone added a 15-yard scoring run in third quarter.

Goldsboro (0-9, 0-3 EPC) is the guest of North Lenoir next Friday.
