SEVEN SPRINGS -- Spring Creek's Angel Sanchez finished with eight saves and now has four-straight shutouts as the Gators claimed a 3-0 win at home over Louisburg.

Raul Fuentes scored twice for the Gators (5-1, 1-0 Carolina/Tar Roanoke), while Manuel Moreno added one goal.

Spring Creek travels to North Johnston Wednesday.

Eastern Wayne

WILSON -- Eastern Wayne's Josh Coltrane had one goal and one assist in the Warriors' 3-2 loss at Wilson Beddingfield on Monday in Class 3-A Eastern Carolina Conference action.

Eastern Wayne (4-5-1 overall) slipped to 1-2 in league play heading into Wednesday's match at home against Charles B. Aycock. The Bruins (9-3-0 overall) improved to 2-1 in the ECC.

Geordi Brown added one goal for the Warriors, who owned a 17-9 advantage in shots and a 7-2 margin in corner kicks.

Jaime Orlellana scored twice for Beddingfield, while teammate Osiel Guerre added one goal.

Hawks drill

Farmville Central

FARMVILLE -- North Lenoir's C.C. Croom and Dustin King scored two goals each as the Hawks rolled to a 7-1 win at Farmville Central on Monday in the Class 2-A Eastern Plains Conference opener for both teams.

Cameron Beaman, Ricky Jarman and Tyler Smith added one goal each for North Lenoir (5-5-2, 7-1 EPC), which carries a four-game winning streak into Wednesday's contest at Tarboro.

DUDLEY -- Kinston's Mike Jones scored twice as Southern Wayne suffered a 5-2 setback to the Vikings on Monday.

Carlos Zometa tallied two goals for the Saints (0-5, 0-3 ECC), who travel to Wilson Hunt on Wednesday.

Riley Smith, Evan Price and Andy Spence added goals for Kinston (4-6-1, 1-2 ECC), which travels to Rosewood today in non-conference action.

Kinston's C.J. Roberts had seven saves.

Panthers avenge

earlier setback

SMITHFIELD -- Spring Creek's Jamie Johnson and Jameson Mossburg claimed singles wins as the Gators suffered a 6-3 loss to North Johnston on Monday at the Smithfield-Selma High School courts.

Mossburg teamed with Ivey Best to pick up the Gators' only other win at No. 3 doubles as the duo defeated Nicole Creech and Laura Daniels 8-6.

The Panthers, who picked up their second win of the season, avenged a loss earlier in the season at Spring Creek (1-11, 1-7).

North Johnston travels to Mount Olive on Wednesday to face North Duplin, while the Gators host Wallace-Rose Hill.

Mary West, Chris Hoeper, Katy Fairchild, Lindsey Whaley and Rebecca James claimed singles wins for the Eagles, while the doubles tandems of West-Hoeper and Whaley-James finished off the win.

Eastern Wayne's Lindsey Frederick claimed her team's lone singles win at No. 3 as the Warriors fell 7-2 to Wilson Fike on Monday in non-confernece action.

The Warriors' No. 1 doubles tandem of Lauren Bynum-Casie Musgrave also claimed a victory.

Eastern Wayne hosts Wilson Hunt today in Class 3-A Eastern Carolina Conference play.

remains unbeaten

SNOW HILL -- Greene Central's Elizabeth McLawhorn claimed the Rams' only singles win of the afternoon as Greenfield School improved to 11-0 with a 7-2 win at the Snow Hill Tennis Complex on Monday.

Greene Central's No. 1 doubles team of Horton-Sugg picked up the Rams' second and final win.

Aycock rolls

at ECC match

WILSON -- Charles B. Aycock's Kelli Forbis and Brooke Newell fired a 38 and 39, respectively, as the Golden Falcons cruised to a Class 3-A Eastern Carolina Conference win on Monday at Wedgewood.

Aycock finished with a team score of 77, while Eastern Wayne took second at 98 and Southern Wayne placed third at 101. Wilson Beddingfield (107) and Wilson Hunt (114) rounded out the team scoring.

Jasmine Reeves led the Warriors with a 42 as teammate Erica Freeman shot a 56.

Alyssa Bradshaw shot a 49 for Southern Wayne, while Jordan Hill added a 52.

The next scheduled ECC match is Oct. 9 at Lane Tree.

Volleyball

Faith claims

home win

Faith Christian's Kaitlyn Floors provided 13 kills and four digs as the Conquerors defeated Trinity in five sets on Monday.

Brooke Anderson had five digs for Faith (4-3, 4-1), while Renee Provincial had 24 assists and Alyssa Hill had five aces.

The Conquerors host Mount Calvary today.

WILSON -- Greene Central improved to 6-2 overall as the Rams claimed a 9-0 win at Greenfield School on Monday.

Ashley Grant, Grayson Daniell, Casey Perry, Abbey Dail, Dulce Quinarez and Jessica Gray claimed singles wins for the Rams, while the doubles tandems of Grant-Daniell, Perry-Dail and Quinarez-Gray finished off the sweep.

Greene Central hosts Southern Wayne today.

Norwayne d. Greenwood 21-25, 25-14, 25-14, 25-3 -- Norwayne improved to 4-0 overall and 1-0 in conference play. The Cobras travel to Grantham on Thursday.
