MURFREESBORO -- Bradley Carroll and Matt Wallin scored two goals apiece and Erik Small added a goal and two assists to lead Mount Olive to a 9-1 win over Chowan in non-conference men's soccer Wednesday at Murfreesboro. The win snaps the Trojans' two-match losing skid.

Mount Olive (2-2-0) took a 2-0 lead in the first nine minutes of the match as Adam Caston scored an unassisted goal in the seventh minute and Wallin added a goal off an assist by Small less than two minutes later. Chowan (0-3-0) cut the lead in half when Korey Kamppi scored an unassisted goal just inside the 14th minute.

The Trojans still held to a one-goal lead beyond the 33rd minute until Woody Stilley and Carroll scored goals in a span of less than two minutes to give Mount Olive a 4-1 lead at intermission. Ryan Capdepon assisted on Stilley's goal, while Carroll's goal was unassisted.

Mount Olive broke the game open early in the second half, scoring two goals 50 seconds apart.

Small converted a penalty kick at the 58:03 mark, then assisted on Wallin's second goal of the match to extend the lead to 6-1. Ryan Adamski and Donte Haynes added goals and Carroll closed out the scoring in the 89th minute on an unassisted goal for his second goal of the contest.

Mike Garrett and Chris Varela recorded assists for the Trojans.

Mount Olive outshot Chowan 33-8. Bryan Stitz, one of three Trojan goalkeepers who saw action Wednesday, recorded Mount Olive's only save. Josh Cenci had eight saves for Chowan, while Daniel Callahan added four saves.

The Trojans open Carolinas-Virginia Athletics Conference play Saturday as Mount Olive plays host to Queens. Match time is 3:30 p.m. at Trojan Field.
