WINSTON-SALEM -- A walk-off walk with the bases loaded pushed Winston-Salem to a non dramatic 2-1 victory over Kinston on Tuesday night.

Newly acquired K-Tribe pitcher Scott Sumner, just received from rookie level Burlington, walked three batters in the ninth inning -- including Sean Smith, who pushed home Rod Allen Jr. and ended the game.

Kinston's Jose Constanza drove in the K-Tribe's only run of the game with an RBI double in the fifth inning that scored Argenis Reyes.

Kinston starter Shawn Nottingham, just received in a trade from the Seattle Mariners, made a solid Carolina League debut. Nottingham pitched four innings, giving up five hits and one earned run.

Mariano Gomez came in for four solid innings from the bullpen, giving up just one hit and no earned runs.

Fernando Hernandez (7-4) picked up the win for Winston-Salem.

Kinston returns to action today in game two of this four game series. J.D. Martin (0-0, 0.00) takes the mound for the K-Tribe in the 7 p.m. contest.
