WARSAW -- Jimmy Glaspie turned in the biggest defensive play of the game and James Kenan escaped Jacksonville Northside 14-12 on Friday evening at Bill Taylor Field.

The Monarchs pulled with 14-12 on a three-yard touchdown pass with less than four minutes remaining in regulation. Glaspie, a senior defensive back, snuffed the visitors' two-point conversion attempt and preserved the Tigers' second home win of the season.

James Kenan (2-0) rallied from a 6-0 halftime with two third-quarter touchdowns. Alex Monk completed scoring strikes to Jason Kennion (56 yards) and Jamian Smith (23). Jorge Vazquez successfully converted both PATs to put the Tigers ahead 14-6.

Monk finished with four completions and 124 yards in eight attempts. Kennion and Smith combined for three receptions, while Shawn Wilson snagged a 25-yard pass.

The Tigers amassed 133 yards rushing on 40 attempts. Monk led the way with 53 yards on 12 carries, followed by Stedman Mathis with 30 yards on seven totes.

Defensively, Josh Dixon emerged the Tigers' top tackler with six stops and one assist. Kennion contributed four tackles and one assist. Smith provided three tackles and two assists. Samuel Steele recorded four tackles and one sack. Jayvone Devane and Wilson each picked off a Northside pass.

James Kenan entertains unbeaten Farmville Central next Friday. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
