PRINCETON -- South Johnston's Scott Hockaday and Dee Walden led the Trojans to a 41-15 win at Princeton in the season-opening game for both squads Friday evening.

Hockaday finished with 295 yards through the air on 19-of-30 passing with four touchdowns. Walden caught three of those scores and had 233 receiving yards on 11 catches.

The Bulldogs posted 221 combined yards on the ground with Gerrell Bogle leading the way with 29 rushes for 151 yards. Bogle also had a 45-yard touchdown reception from Matt Blackwell, which made the score 20-9 at halftime.

Blackwell finished 5-of-18 passing with four interceptions and one touchdown.

The Trojans finished with 461 yards to Princeton's 317.

"We played a lot better than the score indicates. I was actually surprised at how well we played," Princeton coach Russell Williamson said. "Defensively, it was tough for us with how they spread the field and throw it. We can't emulate that in practice.

"We've got to tackle better and catch it better. We dropped some balls."

The Bulldogs return to action Friday at North Moore of the Yadkin Valley 1-A Conference.
