KINSTON -- Argenis Reyes went 5-for-5 as the Kinston Indians beat the Myrtle Beach Pelicans 12-8 on Tuesday night.

The K-Tribe scored more than five or more runs in the first inning for the third straight game as Kinston scored six times against Myrtle Beach starter Jo-Jo Reyes.

Jo-Jo Reyes ended up walking six, including three men with the bases loaded. Jordan Brown added a two-run double and Reyes was taken out of the game with two outs in the bottom of the first. After a towering, over-the-scoreboard home run by Stephen Head, his 10 homer of the year, Kinston took a 7-2 lead into the third.

Myrtle Beach came right back with three runs in the top of the third and two in the fourth to tie the game at seven heading into the fifth inning.

The game would stay tied until the bottom of the sixth, when Matt Whitney led off with a solo home run to left field. It was Whitney's eighth homer of the year as he hit his second round-tripper in back-to-back games. Brown added two more RBIs later in the inning and scored on an RBI single by Head.

Argenis Reyes finished the scoring with an RBI single in the seventh, his fifth single of the game. Reyes pushed his batting average up from .252 to .261 after the five-hit night.

Brown went 2-for-5 with four RBIs and is now second in the Carolina League with 65 RBIs this season. Nathan Panther and Head also had two hits on the night.

Cody Bunkelman (1-0) picked up the win out of the pen for Kinston. Bunkelman went 21/3 innings and gave up just one hit.

Moises Hernandez (1-2) took the loss for Myrtle Beach.

Jensen Lewis (7-5, 4.02) takes the mound for the K-Tribe at 7 p.m. today.
