Bulls get offensive again, trounce Clippers

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Two days after scoring 10 in the first inning at Toledo, Durham tallied eight in the first at Columbus on Wednesday night as the Bulls went on to win 16-10.

Delmon Young and Kevin Witt each homered twice and drove in four runs to lead the Bulls.

The Bulls collected three homers in the first inning, one apiece by Witt, Kevin Cash and Wes Bankston, chasing starter Jorge DePaula, and sent 11 men to bat in the frame.

Durham extended its lead to 10-0 on solo homers by Young and Witt, who now has a league-leading 28. Columbus countered with a seven-run fourth, chasing Jason Hammel. However, Scott Dunn (3-1) and Jose Rodriguez allowed just one run over the next 41/3 innings, allowing the Bulls to take control of what had become a 10-8 contest.

The Bulls scored two in the sixth and three in the seventh, before tacking on one in the ninth on Young's second homer of the night. It was his first two-homer game in Triple-A.

Durham collected 18 hits on the evening, four by Witt and Young, and McDonald and Cash had three apiece. The Bulls collected season highs for runs and hits, and tied a season-best with six homers.

The Bulls, 50-54, face Columbus again today as lefty J.P. Howell (3-2) starts for Durham at 7:05 p.m.
