MOUNT OLIVE -- Beth Green has been named head men's and women's cross country coach and assistant sports information director, it was announced Wednesday by Director of Athletics Jeff Eisen. Green will begin her duties in early August.

A graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University, Green spent six years as a graduate assistant and a volunteer assistant coach for her alma mater's cross country and indoor/outdoor track programs. She earned a B.S. degree in health and physical education and a master's of science in exercise physiology from VCU.

As a student-athlete, she was an All-Colonial Athletic Association selection in cross country and in indoor/outdoor track. During her senior year, she qualified for the NCAA Outdoor Track Championship, finishing 16th nationally in the 10,000 meters race. She was a four-year letterwinner at VCU and was team captain during her junior and senior years.

In addition to her coaching experience, has served as a health education instructor at Craven Community College and as a respiratory therapist at Camp Lejeune Naval Hospital and at VCU Health Systems.

"We are thrilled to have Beth take over leadership of our cross country program," said Eisen. "She brings a strong passion and knowledge of the sport, as well as quality collegiate coaching experience. Beth will be a great fit for our department."

"I'm excited about the upcoming season," said Green. "I'm looking forward to building the program and becoming a competitive force in the conference."
