K-Tribe falls at home

KINSTON -- Potomac pounded out 14 hits and 12 runs as Kinston fell 12-4 at Grainger Stadium on Saturday night.

Potomac bolted out to an 8-0 lead behind the outstanding starting pitching by Clint Everts (5-8). Everts went 5 1/3 innings, giving up just one hit while striking out six. Everts did not give up his first hit until Brandon Pinckney lined a single to center in the fifth inning.

Kinston's bats came alive in the seventh inning, when Jordan Brown led off with his team-leading ninth home run of the season. John Drennen and Javi Herrera followed with RBI singles. All three runs in the inning came off former East Carolina performer, Greg Bunn. The fifth round draft pick in 2004 is now 1-1 for Potomac with a 6.66 ERA in 12 appearances this season.

Potomac came back with four more runs in the eighth to put the game out of reach.

Kevin Dixon (6-3) took the loss for Kinston.

Kinston ends its homestand on Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. against Potomac. Jensen Lewis takes the mound for the K-Tribe.

Kinston 8, Potomac 2

KINSTON -- Rodney Choy Foo went 3-for-3 with a home run and four runs scored to highlight an 8-2 victory for Kinston over Potomac on Friday night at Grainger Stadium.

Scott Lewis (2-1, 1.45 ERA) picked up his second win of the season -- going five innings and giving up four hits with two earned runs. K-Tribe relievers, Scott Roehl and Michael Finnocchi, pitched four hitless innings out of the bullpen.

Kinston tied the game at 1-1 in the first inning with an RBI single by Javi Herrera, scoring Choy Foo. The Indians led off the third inning with five consecutive hits as all five scored with RBIs coming from Brandon Pinckney and Jordan Brown. Choy Foo scored after he tried to stretch a single into a double, drawing an errant throw from Potomac that went into right field -- allowing him to come all the way home.

After an RBI by Stephen Head scored Choy Foo in the fifth, Choy Foo took matters into his own hands in the seventh with a solo home run to left field.

Ricardo Morales (3-8) took the loss for Potomac.
