Moore leads North Division in Southern League All-Star game

MONTGOMERY, Ala. -- The North Division defeated the South Division 9-4 on Monday night before a record-breaking Riverwalk Stadium crowd of 7,454 at the 2006 Southern League All-Star Game.
West Tennessee's Scott Moore went 3-for-4 with two home runs and four RBI for the North Division to garner MVP honors. Tennessee's Miguel Montero finished the contest 3-for-3 with two doubles and an RBI for the North Division, while Juan Mateo of West Tennessee, who started on the mound, tossed a scoreless first inning and was credited with the victory. Chattanooga's Noochie Varner homered and drove in two for the North Division, which rapped 13 hits and built a seven-run cushion after five-and-a-half innings of play.
Jacksonville's Tony Abreu hit a two-run home run for the South Division in a losing effort as Birmingham's Corey Smith went 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles. Birmingham's Tyler Lumsden surrendered the first run of the game in the top of the second inning and took the loss.
Jacksonville's Craig Brazell defeated Chattanooga's Joey Votto in the championship round of the Home Run Derby.
