JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The Carolina Mudcats and Jacksonville Suns were suspended by rain in the fourth inning tied 0-0 on Thursday night.

The Mudcats had just completed batting in the top of the fourth under a steady drizzle, when an intimidating flash of lightning dwarfed the lights shining on the Baseball Grounds. The umpires waved the Mudcats off of the field with the game scoreless before the Suns came to the plate. A steady to heavy downpour lasted more than an hour before the game was suspended.

The contest will be resumed today at 6 p.m. for nine innings, then the regularly scheduled game will last seven frames.

Carolina's road swing to Jacksonville concludes on Saturday night at 7:05.
