K-Tribe loses home contest to Blue Rocks

KINSTON -- A season record crowd of 4,011 fans did their best to cheer on the K-Tribe, but Kinston still fell to Wilmington 11-2 on Wednesday night at Grainger Stadium.

Wilmington sent 11 batters to the plate in the third inning, scoring seven runs on seven hits and taking a commanding 10-0 lead.

Kinston scored a run in the fifth, as Brian Barton came home on an RBI single by Brandon Pinckney. The Indians Argenis Reyes scored on a wild pitch in the seventh.

Kevin Dixon (4-2) took the loss for the Indians, giving up eight earned runs in 21/3 innings.

Tommy Hottovy (8-6) was the winner for Wilmington, giving up five hits and one earned run in six innings.

Kinston will send Jensen Lewis to the mound today at 7 p.m. for the second game of this six-game homestand.
