Post 94 drops twinbill

WINTERVILLE -- Snow Hill's Michael Eubanks smacked two home runs and drove in all three Post 94 runs in game one of a doubleheader, but Pitt County Post 160 emerged with a two-game sweep in Area I East play on Wednesday at South Central High School.

Pitt County took the first game 7-3, then claimed game two, 11-1 in six innings.

The losses drop Snow Hill (7-10 overall) to 5-10 in division play heading into today's game at home against Kinston. Post 160 improved to 12-4 overall and against league foes. Both teams have three games left in the regular season.

In game one, Mike Taylor had three hits, including a home run, and drove in four runs to pace Post 160 at the plate. Aubrey Edens picked up the win for Pitt County, which hosts Nash County on Friday.

Hunter Chase added two hits for Post 94, while Tommy Cobb took the loss.

Game two saw Post 160 explode for 10 runs in the second inning, then score its final run in the sixth to win by virtue of the mercy rule. Tyrell Worthington had a home run and three RBIs as Grayson Walker and Mark Potter had two hits each. Mike Hallow got the win for Pitt County.

Brandon Brown and Richie Turner had Snow Hill's only two hits, while Blake Taylor took the loss.

Aycock splits

with Benson

FOUR OAKS -- Stephen Strouse had two hits, scored twice and picked up the win on the mound in a complete-game effort to help lead Aycock to a 6-1 win over Benson in the second game of a doubleheader on Wednesday.

Benson won the first game 4-3.

Zack Wright added two RBIs, while Connor Narron and Bryant Hill brought home one run each in game two.

Jordan Carr paced Aycock's offense in the first game with two hits, including a double, and scored two runs. Jackson Wooten and Hill added one RBI each. Hill went the distance on the mound and picked up the loss.

Aycock travels to Clayton today at 5:30 p.m.

Babe Ruth 12-under

Nahunta Indians 10, Spring Creek 0 -- The Nahunta Indians captured the Babe Ruth championship for the second straight year after a three-game sweep in tournament play. Justin Barbour had four hits against Spring Creek in the championship game, while Derek Limbaugh and Dee Mabry had three hits each and Austin Gay posted two hits. In the semifinals, Nahunta defeated Grantham 3-1 as Zack Grantham paced the offense with three hits. Game one saw the Indians claim a 6-2 win with Austin Gay and Brad Kennedy providing two hits each. Limbaugh emerged with two wins on the mound, including a victory in the championship game. Justin Barbour picked up the win against Grantham.
