LaToya Greene has been named as Assistant Athletics Director/Senior Woman Administrator at Mount Olive, it was announced Monday by Director of Athletics Jeff Eisen. Greene's duties will include overseeing compliance as well as implementing the NCAA Champs/Life Skills Program for Mount Olive. She will also serve as advisor for the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.
Greene comes to Mount Olive from the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference office, where she spent the past two years as Assistant to the Commissioner for Compliance and Student Development, as well as Senior Woman Administrator. At the SIAC, her duties included managing all aspects of compliance and administering NCAA coaches certification tests.
Greene is a graduate of Winston-Salem State, where she earned a B.S. degree in sport management. She was also an outfielder on Winston-Salem State's softball team.
The 2006-07 academic year marks the first year of the addition of the Assistant AD/SWA position. Head women's basketball coach Wendy Lee previously served as SWA, while sports information director David Shulimson served as compliance coordinator.
"We are excited to have been able to establish a new position within our athletics program for an assistant athletics director, and LaToya is exactly the kind of person we were looking for to fill that position," said Eisen. "She will help us develop a more comprehensive compliance program, while also providing support for our student-athletes in the areas of academics and life skills. We are very fortunate to have her as a member of our management team."
"I'm excited to come to Mount Olive and I'm very thankful for the opportunity," said Greene. "I'm looking forward to working with the athletics staff and I'm especially excited about getting to work with the student-athletes."
Greene begins her duties at Mount Olive in July.
