Eastern Wayne recently recognized its Spring Athletic Awards in seven varsity sports and four junior varsity sports.
Varsity baseball -- Most Improved -- Chad Sutton; Defensive Award -- John Wooten; Hustle Award and Male Athlete of the Year -- Joey Burridge; Pitching Award, Hitting Award and MVP -- Tyler Ham; Coaches Award -- Joey Moye.
Varsity softball -- Most Improved -- Jessica Black; Coaches Award -- Katie Dissinger; MVP and Female Athlete of the Year -- Emily Sasser.
Varsity boy's golf -- MVP -- Kyle Ham.
Varsity boy's track -- MVP -- Kendrick Best.
Varsity girl's track -- MVP -- Nikki Artis; Most Outstanding Sprinter and MVP -- Euginia Baker; Most Outstanding Hurdler -- Laniece Sims; Most Outstanding Distance Runner -- Shannon Rouse; Most Improved -- Richelle Butler; Most Improved Hurdler -- Alicia Stevens; Extra Effort Award -- Alyssa Artis; Coaches Award -- Noelle Kelly.
Varsity girl's soccer -- Golden Boot Award -- Samantha Frazer; Coaches Award -- Catie Miller; MVP -- Jennifer Bircher.
Varsity boy's tennis -- Most Improved -- Eric Barnes; Best Doubles -- Alex Bryant and Drew Jackson; MVPs -- Drew Ziccardi and Jared Stone.
JV baseball -- MVP -- Chad Gurley.
