KINSTON -- The K-Tribe banged out seven runs and 11 hits en route to a 7-2 win over Wilmington on Wednesday afternoon.

Kinston took two of three games from the Blue Rocks to win its 13th series of the year. K-Tribe righty Joe Ness (5-0) picked up his fifth win of the season, giving up just one run and four hits in 51/3 innings. Ness came in with a 2.20 ERA -- the sixth best in the Carolina League.

Ness got all the run support he needed in the bottom of the fourth inning when Matt Whitney, who finished 2-for-3 with a pair of RBIs, hit a two-run homer -- his sixth of the season. The two-run shot put the K-Tribe up 4-1 and the Indians never looked back as Kinston scored one run in the eighth and two more in the ninth. Five Indians had two or more hits in the game.

The K-Tribe, with a league-best 35-17 record, now hits the road for a four-game series with the Frederick Keys. Left-hander Scott Lewis takes the mound today at 7 p.m. for the K-Tribe.
