Cougar trio qualifies for 2-A state meet

Goldsboro's Jacob Sykes, Achish Garrett and Monterio Newsome qualifed as individuals for the Class 2-A state championships to be held Saturday at N.C. A&T in Greensboro.
At the Mideast regional last weekend at Cardinal Gibbons, Sykes ran a 23.04 in the 200, while his teammate Garrett also qualified in the 200 with a 23.14. Newsome qualified in the high jump with a jump of 5-10.
The Cougars also qualified in the 800 and 400 relays.
