K-Tribe's streak snapped

POTOMAC, Va. -- The Potomac National snapped the K-Tribe's five-game win streak Wednesday night with a 3-2 victory in northern Virginia.

The K-Tribe would tie the score at one in the fourth inning when Brian Barton singled, then stole a base and was driven in on a Ryan Goleski single. Barton extended his hitting streak to 19 games, which is the longest streak in the Carolina League this year.

Potomac took the lead for good in the fifth when Russ Cleveland scored on a Kyle Collins wild pitch and picked up an insurance run in the seventh.

The K-Tribe would attempt a comeback in the top of the ninth when Wyatt Toregas hit a solo home run, but the runs would stop there. Scott Roehl (2-1) took the loss in relief.

Jason Norderum picked up the win for the Nationals, who snapped a four-game losing streak. The two teams will meet again today at 7:05 p.m. to play the finale of the four-game series. Jenson Lewis will take the mound for the K-Tribe.

INTERNATIONAL LEAGUE

Bats 8, Bulls 0

DURHAM -- Two-run homers by Rob Stratton and Jesse Gutierrez led Louisville to an 8-0 victory over Durham on Wednesday.

Stratton hit his home run in the sixth inning. Gutierrez capped the game's scoring with a two-run shot in the eighth.

William Bergolla went 3-for-5 with a double, RBI and a run scored as Louisville (13-19) snapped a six-game losing streak. Five of the Bats 11 hits went for extra bases.

Chris Michalak (4-0) allowed three hits over seven shutout innings to earn the win.

Darnell McDonald collected two of Durham's (18-14) three hits, but was twice picked off by Michalak.

Durham's Edwin Jackson Jr. (1-3) suffered the loss by giving up six runs on eight hits over 6 1/3 innings.

Indianapolis 3, Charlotte 2

FORT MILL, S.C. -- Rajai Davis' three-run homer in the fourth was all the offense Indianapolis needed as the Indians beat Charlotte 3-2 on Wednesday night in the International League.

Indianapolis (18-14) has now beaten the Knights (24-8) twice after breaking Charlotte's 12-game winning streak Tuesday night.

Davis had three hits and Carlos Maldonado went 2-for-4 for the Indians, who had 10 hits.

The Knights took a 2-0 lead in the third on Ernie Young's home run, while Josh Fields went 2-for-4. Indianapolis starter Nerio Rodriguez (1-1) allowed two runs and four hits, striking out four and walking three in seven innings to get the win. C.J. Nitkowski allowed just one hit and struck out two over the final two innings to earn his second save.

Charlotte starter Heath Phillips (3-2) allowed three runs and eight hits, striking out four and walking three in seven innings to pick up the loss.
