Faith Christian claimed an 8-1 win over Woodland Baptist of Winston-Salem to advance to the N.C. Christian Schools Athletic Association's Final Four.

Jennifer Christopher picked up the win on the mound -- striking out six against one walk and yielding just two hits. Christopher helped her cause with two hits at the plate.

Renee Provencial posted four hits for the Conquerors, while Brooke Anderson and Holly Dawson provided three hits each.

The Final Four is slated to begin on Friday in Kernersville.

WCS takes home

league awards

Wayne Christian's Traci Davis was named the Carolina Christian 1-A Conference Player of the Year and claimed Most Outstanding Player at the league tournament.

In 71 innings, Davis finished with 111 strikeouts against 37 walks and gave up just 28 hits and 16 earned runs. She also batted .615 with an on base percentage of .733.

Brittany Sullivan, Reagan Hinton and Michelle Krug garnered All-Conference honors for WCS, while Sullivan and Krug also made the All-Tournament team.

The Eagles will begin play in the N.C. Independent Schools Athletic Association 1-A playoffs on May 16.

Courgars fare

well at EPC meet

FARMVILLE -- After strong showings at the Class 2-A Eastern Plains Conference meet, Goldsboro's boys track teams qualified in seven events for the Class 2-A Mideast Regionals.

Jacob Sykes won the 200 meters with a 22.5 and teamed with Brandon Daivs, Monterio Newsome and Achish Garrett to take the 4x200 relay at 1:31. The Cougars also qualifed for the regionals in the 4x100 and 4x400 relays.

Also regional qualifiers, Garrett finished second in the 200 (22.7), while Donald Pollock took second in the shot put (46-5). Newsome qualified in the high jump with a leap of 6-2.

The regionals are slated for May 13 at McMichael High School in Mayodan.
