LYNCHBURG, Va. -- The Lynchburg Hillcats pounded out 14 hits and touched the K-Tribe up for 12 runs en route to a 12-8 win Thursday night.

It was the most runs scored by a Kinston opponent so far this year.

The K-Tribe tried their best to make it a game, cutting into the lead two different times during the contest. Down 4-0 in the fourth inning, Trevor Crowe scored on a Wyatt Toregas double to make it 4-1. Ryan Goleski followed one batter latter with a two-RBI single that scored Stephen Head and Toregas to make it 4-3.

Lynchburg came back in a big way in the bottom of the sixth inning, scoring seven runs -- all earned -- off K-Tribe reliever Ryan Knippschild.

Knippschild, in his second appearance for the K-Tribe, gave up six hits and two walks in the inning as the Hillcats batted around, making the score 11-3.

The Tribe came back with five runs in the top of the eighth inning, highlighted by a Ryan Goleski three-run homer, cutting the Hillcat lead to 11-8. However, the Tribe scoring ended there as Kinston lost two games in a row for the first time this season.

The K-Tribe returns home to Kinston for a short three-game homestand today through Sunday against the Salem Avalanche.

K-Tribe left-hander Scott Lewis will take the mound for the K-Tribe today at 7 p.m. with fireworks after the game.
