Conquerors get past Liberty-Durham

Faith Christian's Josh Brannan delivered the game-winning, two-run double in the bottom of the sixth as the Conquerors claimed a 10-6 win at home over Liberty-Durham on Monday.

Faith (9-5, 6-2) finished up conference play in second place and will host a first-round, N.C. Christian Schools Athletic 2-A Association playoff contest on Friday at home against Falls Road-Rocky Mount at 4 p.m.

Allen Ray Darby added three hits and two RBIs for the Conquerors, while Rusty Winders and Sasser posted two hits.

Darby picked up the win in three innings of relief work -- striking out six against no walks.

John Coghill had three hits and three RBIs for Liberty.

Greene Central's Tyler Chase had four hits in five plate appearances in the Rams' 25-0 win in five innings at Goldsboro on Monday.

Hunter Chase added three hits and five RBIs for Greene Central (12-9 overall), which improved to 6-2 in the Class 2-A Eastern Plains Conference. Robert Tyndall (3-4, 5 RBIs), Curtis Braswell (2-5, 4 RBIs) and Lance Murray (2-4) also had big offensive performances for the Rams.

Cedric McClary picked up the loss on the mound for Goldsboro (0-15, 0-7 EPC) and had his teams lone hit -- a triple.

Robert Tyndall got the win for the Rams, who travel to Tarboro today.

The Cougars continue conference play at Farmville Central today.

SMITHFIELD -- North Johnston claimed a 5-4 win over Spring Creek in Class 1-A Carolina Conference play on Monday.

Cliff Wilson, Justin Smith and Frederick Ellis claimed singles victories for the Gators (6-6 overall), who slipped to 3-2 in conference play heading into Thursday's make-up match at home against Rosewood.

The doubles combination of Wilson-Correll claimed Spring Creek's lone doubles win.

The Gators and Panthers will compete in the Carolina tournament on Wednesday at Herman Park. Play begins at 1 p.m.
