MOUNT OLIVE -- Lucia Henkle and Mariana Shimoda both posted straight-set victories in their final collegiate home matches as Mount Olive defeated Peace 9-0 in non-conference women's tennis Sunday at Walker Tennis Center.

The win improves Mount Olive to 10-9 on the season.

Mount Olive resumes Carolinas-Virginia Athletics Conference action Tuesday as the Trojans head to Wilson, N.C., to take on Barton. Match time is 3:30 p.m. Peace opens play Thursday in the USA South Conference Tournament.

Goldsboro falls

Goldsboro suffered a 26-0 loss on Friday to Farmville Central in Class 2-A Eastern Plains Conference play.

Eric McLean and Donald Lewis had two hits each, while Keith Jackson added one hit.

Monquavus Edwards got the loss on the mound for the Cougars (0-7, 0-2 EPC), who host Wayne Christian today in non-conference action.

Down East

Amateur Golf Tour

NEW BERN -- Goldsboro's Matt Vilsack (83) and Kevin Harrington (84) finished fourth and fifth respectively in the A Flight of a Down East Amatuer Golf Tour event recently in New Bern.

Warsaw's Melvin Vernon (87) finished sixth in the B Flight.

The next event is April 22 at Roanoke Country Club in Williamston.
