PETERSBURG, Va. -- Graham Wooten went 3-for-3 with five runs batted in to lead Mount Olive to a 9-1 victory over Virginia State in game one of a non-conference baseball doubleheader Wednesday at Petersburg, Va. The Trojans completed the sweep with an 8-2 win in game two as Stephen Nordan's rbi-double highlighted a four-run second inning.

Daniel Wood (3-1) allowed one run on six hits in six innings for the win in game one, while Ryan Barham (3-0) allowed two runs on six hits in six innings in game two.

Mount Olive (23-11) jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the first in game one as Josh Carter singled home the first run and scored on Nordan's triple. Nordan came home on Wooten's sacrifice fly. Lance Martin reached on an error to lead off the third and after the next two batters were retired, Wooten connected on his team-leading sixth home run of the season to extend the Trojans' lead to 5-0.

Kyle Curtis tripled and scored in the fourth inning and Wooten's two-run double sparked a three-run fifth inning to close out the scoring. The Trojans collected 13 hits as five different players recorded multi-hit games.

Wood struck out four and walked four. Curtis, normally an outfielder, made his first-ever pitching appearance for Mount Olive, retiring the side in order and striking out two in the seventh inning.

In the second game, Dustin Richardson ignited a four-run second inning with an rbi-single and came home on Nordan's double. Jesse Lancaster and David Cooper connected on run-scoring singles to give Mount Olive a 4-0 lead. After Virginia State got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the second, Carter led off the top of the third with a double, advanced to third on a passed ball and scored on a sacrifice fly by Wooten.
