LAGRANGE -- Charles B. Aycock's Emily Jordan retired the first 13 batters she faced at North Lenoir as the Golden Falcons claimed a 6-0 win in non-conference play.

Jordan, a left-handed sophomore, finished with five strikeouts against one walk -- yielding only one hit in seven innings of work in her first varsity win.

"She (Jordan) was as solid as she could be, and the defense was solid behind her," Aycock coach David West said.

Jasmine Dobbin paced Aycock (3-5) at the plate with two hits, including a double, with four RBI. Kandace Burroughs and Julia Lancaster drove in one run each, while Brittani Edgerton added a double.

Brittany Sanders endured the loss for North Lenoir (7-3), giving up five earned runs on eight hits with seven strikeouts and two walks.

Kayla Sutton had the Hawks' lone hit.

Aycock travels to Wilson Beddingfield today in the Class 3-A Eastern Carolina Conference opener for both teams. The Hawks continue non-league play at East Duplin today.

Rosewood's Holt Rains had three hits, including a grand slam home run, in the Eagles' 27-0 win at Goldsboro on Wednesday.

Garrett Howell and Dave Martell added two hits each for the Eagles (4-3).

Taylor Allen picked up the win on the mound for Rosewood, yielding no runs on two hits with eight strikeouts in three innings of work. Dave Martell struck out five in two innings for Rosewood.

Eric McLean and Josh McCoy had the lone hits for the Cougars (0-5).

Rosewood opens up Class 1-A Carolina Conference play on March 28 at Ayden-Grifton, while the Cougars begin Eastern Plains 2-A Conference action on March 31 at Tarboro.

ROCKY MOUNT -- Wayne Country Day's Cameron Ford had three hits as the Chargers suffered a 16-8 loss at Rocky Mount Academy in Coastal Plains Independent 1-A/2-A Conference play on Wednesday.

WCDS led 7-6 heading into the bottom of the fifth, before RMA erupted for 10 runs, aided by some untimely Charger errors, to take a 16-7 lead.

Ryan Ford, Travis Davis, Kevin Herring, Trent Langston and Kyle Pender added two hits each for WCDS (3-3, 0-1 CPIC).

Peyton McDaniel paced Rocky Mount Academy (2-3, 1-0) with three hits, including a double and a home run, with four RBI.

Davis endured the loss for the Chargers in four innings of work.

WCDS hosts Greenfield School today in league action.

Gators suffer

SEVEN SPRINGS -- Spring Creek's Adam Hinson had a double and an RBI in the Gators' 8-4 loss at home to Hobbton.

Zack Adams paced Hobbton at the plate with two hits and two RBI, while Jo Thornton picked up the win on the mound for the Wildcats.

Timothy Rogers endured the loss for Spring Creek, yielding two runs on five hits with three strikeouts and two walks in 21/3 innings of relief work.

Kevin Prunest and Anthony Brogden also saw action on the mound for Spring Creek (0-8).

The Gators host Union on Friday at 5 p.m.

Eagles remain

unbeaten

Rosewood's Erin Thibodeau scored four goals as the Eagles claimed a 5-2 win over Wayne Country Day on Wednesday at the Chargers' field.

Mary Jo Moore had one goal for Rosewood, while Stephanie Behrend dished out four assists.

The Eagles (7-0) travel to Tarboro in Class 1-A/2-A Carolina/Eastern Plains Conference action on Monday.

No further information was submitted on Wednesday's game.

PIKEVILLE -- Charles B. Aycock's Rebekka Katko and Erin Medford had two goals each in the Golden Falcons' 5-0 win at home over Kinston on Wednesday.

Danielle Sealy added one goal for Aycock (3-5, 2-0 Class 3-A Eastern Carolina Conference), while Katko and Stephanie Orosco had one assist each.

Emily Stewart turned in the shutout in goal for the Falcons as Lizzie Sodoma was credited with solid defensive work.

Aycock travels to Clayton today in non-conference action.

SEVEN SPRINGS -- Spring Creek claimed wins in five-of-six singles matches as the Gators defeated Southern Wayne 6-3 in non-conference action at home on Wednesday.

Cliff Wilson, Brandon Strickland, John Potts, Justin Smith and Frederick Ellis all claimed singles victories for Spring Creek (2-1), while the combination of Wilson-Strickland emerged with the Gators lone win in doubles.

Southern Wayne got a singles win from Jonathan Hartley, before the combos of John Stedman-Andy Wice and Graham Price-Chris King picked up the Saints final two victories.

Spring Creek hosts T.E.A.C.H. today, while Southern Wayne hosts Wilson Beddingfield.

Drew Kriger emerged with the Eagles' lone win at No. 4 singles.

WCDS takes on Wayne Christian today, while Rosewood (6-3) hosts Ayden-Grifton on March 28.

Alex Mills, Steven O'Dell, Taylor Holmes, Levin Jones and Ryan Kramer won in singles for the Hawks (5-2) to pick up their five wins.

Only one doubles match was contested due to darkness.

North Lenoir hosts Farmville Central today in the its Class 2-A Eastern Plains Conference opener.
