LAURINBURG -- Mick Moberg captured the individual championship with a 2-under-par 70 and Chris Bitzenhofer took home second place with a 71 to lead Mount Olive to a tie for first place at the rain-shortened St. Andrews Men's Golf Spring Invitational this week.

Final standings were based on Monday's first-round play after rain washed all of the second round Tuesday. The Trojans ended up in second place behind Abilene Christian (Texas), which won a tie-breaker due to its fifth-place player posting a lower score.

The Trojans posted a first-round score of 298, 13 strokes ahead of third-place Concord (W. Va.). Mount Olive was among 13 teams competing in the tournament.

The individual title is the first for Moberg, who competed in last year's NCAA II Super Regional. Moberg shot matching 35s on the front and back nines. Bitzenhofer shot a 36 on the front nine and came home with a 35. Both players were named to the All-Tournament Team.

Mount Olive placed all five golfers in the top 30, as Josh Harward tied for 17th out of 71 golfers with a 78. Freshman Jonathan Greene, a Wayne Christian School graduate, tied for 24th with a 79 and Cameron Phillips tied for 28th with an 81.

This week's tournament marks the Trojans' third consecutive top three finish at St. Andrews. Mount Olive finished third at last year's Spring Invitational and captured the championship at the Fall Invitational in September.
