upset Panthers

KENLY -- The showdown between two prolific scorers didn't disappoint the sparse turnout on a rainy and miserable Monday evening at North Johnston.

Rosewood's Erin Thibodeau registered the hat trick-plus-one (four goals) and sparked a second-half comeback in a 4-2 victory over the Panthers. It was the Classes 1-A/2-A Carolina/Eastern Plains Conference opener for both teams.

North Johnston's Jenna Gudac posted her 25th goal of the season in the opening half. Thibodeau notched the equalizer and the Panthers added a second goal, which gave them a 2-1 lead at halftime.

Thibodeau completed her natural hat trick (three consecutive goals) in the second half. Stephanie Behrend and Mary Catherine Hollowell each provided one assist for the Eagles, who remained unbeaten in six outings.

The Panthers dropped to 7-2-1 overall.

Rosewood faces Wayne Country Day at 3:30 p.m. today.
