SALISBURY -- Bailey Harrell and Georgette Richardson both hit their first collegiate home run and Mount Olive scored all of its runs in the final three innings as the Trojans defeated Shepherd 11-1 Sunday in the Catawba College Softball Invitational.

Shauna Cowdrey allowed an unearned run in the first inning and finished with a complete-game seven-inning three-hitter. Cowdrey struck out four and walked one.

Mount Olive (10-8) was held scoreless until the fifth inning when the Trojans erupted for six runs. Harrell led off the inning with a home run to tie the game 1-1. The Trojans sandwiched a pair of walks around a Jamie Pruitt double and Tiffanie Pittman cleared the bases when her single to left was misplayed. Pittman scored on Melissa Bright's squeeze bunt.

After adding a run in the sixth, Mount Olive struck for four more runs in the seventh, two coming on Richardson's two-run homer.

The win was the lone victory for Mount Olive, which posted a 1-4 record in the tournament. The Trojans lost all three of Saturday's games, falling 6-0 to Lincoln Memorial, 6-2 to Mars Hill and 2-0 to Lenoir-Rhyne. Mount Olive fell to nationally third-ranked Shippensburg 12-0 in the tournament finale Sunday.

Mount Olive heads to Savannah, Ga., this week to compete in the Smash Hit Tournament, hosted by Savannah College of Art and Design. The Trojans take on Tampa and Winston-Salem State Tuesday, then face Winston-Salem State again Wednesday before concluding play against Swarthmore.

The Trojans will participate in one more tournament this weekend as they head to Florence, S.C., Friday to begin play in the Francis Marion University Invitational.
