RHS girls suffer third loss

FARMVILLE -- Rosewood's Courtney Hill dropped in a team-high 15 points as the Eagles suffered a 53-45 loss to Farmville Central in non-conference play on Wednesday night.

The defeat was only Rosewood's third of the season in 15 outings with two of those losses coming against the perenially-tough Jaguars (12-3).

Clare Narron added 11 points for the Eagles, while Kasey Grey chipped in eight.

Kim Zullo scored 15 points to lead Farmville, who turned a 26-26 tie at halftime into an eight-point margin after three quarters. The Jaguars' catalyst, senior guard Megan Zullo, did not dress out for the game.

"We played pretty good, but our shots weren't falling," Rosewood assistant Jennifer Cochran said. "They weren't able to press us as well without her (Zullo), but they still pressed us."

Rosewood will take a 5-0 Class 1-A Carolina Conference mark into Friday's game at home against Ayden-Grifton. Also on Friday, the Jaguars host North Lenoir in Eastern Plains 2-A Conference action.

Bunn hits 30

in RHS loss

FARMVILLE -- Rosewood's Kyle Bunn tallied a game-high 30 points in the Eagles' 75-59 loss at Farmville Central in a non-conference contest on Wednesday.

Bunn, who hit three, 3-pointers, has scored 54 points combined in the last two nights.

The Eagles stayed close with the Jaguars, trailing by single digits for most of the night, until a late fourth-quarter run by the home team put the game away.

"They out-rebounded us and we turned it over a few too many times, but we battled and played hard," Rosewood coach Daniel Mitchell said. "We kept it down to single digits until late in the fourth quarter. Hopefully this game will get us ready for a conference game on Friday with Ayden-Grifton."

Holt Rains and Brantley Ellis added six points each for the Eagles (4-13).

Javious Dixon paced Farmville (9-5) with 18 points.

Rosewood will take a 2-3 record in Class 1-A Carolina Conference play into Friday's game at home against the Chargers. Farmville hosts North Lenoir in Eastern Plains 2-A Conference action.

FARMVILLE -- Rosewood's Taylor Allen, Tyler Muntz and Joey Boyette had eight points each in the Eagles' 57-42 loss at Farmville Central on Wednesday.

The Jaguars' Adrian Little led all scorers with 16 points

Rosewood (6-9) hosts Ayden-Grifon on Friday.

Goldsboro's LaQuita Holmes scored 12 points to lead the Lady Cougars to a 39-21 win over Rosewood on Tuesday at the Eagles' gymnasium.

Kierra Rogers added seven points for Goldsboro (3-12).

Paige Babb led Rosewood with eight points, while teammate Ashley Williams contributed seven points.
