SWHS Booster Club

The Southern Wayne High School Booster Club will meet today at 7 p.m. at the school. Anyone interested in Southern Wayne athletics is encouraged to attend.

EWHS Warrior Club

The Eastern Wayne High School Warrior Club will meet today at 7:30 p.m. in the school media center.

SCHS Booster Club

The Spring Creek High School Booster Club will meet today at 7:30 p.m. in the school cafeteria.

Wayne Co. BR meeting

Wayne County Babe Ruth is holding its monthly general membership meeting at 7 p.m. today at the Family YMCA in Goldsboro. The meeting will be held in the after-school room on the 2nd floor. All coaches and interested parties for Spring 2006 are urged to attend. The Eastern Wayne Middle School Booster club will meet Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the school cafeteria. Anyone interested may attend.

King Pin Scratch Open

The innagural King Pin Scratch Open, hosted by King Pin Pro Shop, will be held at AMF Boulevard Lanes on Jan. 14-15. The entry fee is $100. A $5,000 prize is guaranteed for first place. For more information, contact Clarke Hill at (919) 394-6713.

MOC basketball group rates

Mount Olive College is offering tickets at a special rate of $2 per ticket for groups of 20 or more (60 percent discount) for men's and women's home games during the 2005-2006 regular season. For more information, call (919) 658-7759.

MOC seeking P.A. announcers

Mount Olive College is seeking individuals interested in serving as public address announcers for home events in any of the following sports: men's basketball, women's basketball, baseball and softball. Experience in public address announcing and/or public speaking is helpful, but not required. Please include what sport(s) you're interested in, as well as any kind of previous announcing/public speaking experience.

East Carolina umpires meeting

The East Carolina Baseball Umpires Association will hold its annual association meeting for the 2006 season on Jan. 18 at 7 p.m. in the cafeteria at Kinston High School. All persons interested in umpiring high school, middle school, American Legion and AAU baseball are urged to attend. For more information, contact Jerry Johnson at (919) 580-9383.

ECAA umpire clinics

Dates for ECAA umpire clinics held at the Eastern Carolina Athletic Park are as follows; Jan. 19 -- Introductory meeting, Jan. 26 -- Rules Q & A, Feb. 2 -- Rules Q & A, Feb. 9 -- Rules Q & A, Feb. 16 -- AAU testing, Feb. 23 -- Babe Ruth testing, March 2 -- Babe Ruth testing, March 11 -- On-field clinic with uniforms and full gear from 10 a.m.- 3 p.m. All clinics are at 7 p.m. with the exception of the March 11 clinic. Snow Hill Pitching and Catching Camp

The 18th Annual Snow Hill Pitching and Catching Camp will be Jan. 21 and 22 at Greene Central High School. The camp starts Jan. 21 from 9:30 a.m.-4 p.m. with lunch between noon and 1 p.m. Camp time on Jan. 22 is from 1 p.m.-4 p.m. The cost is $80, which includes lunch and t-shirt and camp is open to players in grades 5-12. Pitchers and catchers will need a glove, spikes and tennis shoes. Catchers should bring their own gear, if available. A limited amount of gear will be on hand. The staff includes local high school and college coaches, as well as current and former professional players.

FYSA baseball registration

Fremont Youth Sports Association is beginning their baseball registration this week for ages 8-12. Final registration will be held on Jan. 21 from noon to 1 p.m. at the Fremont Ball Field. To sign up by telephone, please contact Jason Davis at 394-2164.

Junior Tennis League

NSA coaches/umpires clinic

The Eastern Carolina Athletic Park will host a National Softball Association coaches and umpires clinic for girl's fastpitch softball on Feb. 11. The coaches clinic will run from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. and the cost is $15, which includes lunch. The umpires clinic will run from 11:30 a.m.-5 p.m. and the cost is $60, which includes lunch and sanctioning fees. Carolina Football Development League

The Carolina Football Development League Inc. is a community-based corporate organization established exclusively to provide prep (15-18 years old) and post-graduate (18-22 years old) football and support programs for young people in North Carolina. The 15-18 age group must be academically ineligible or age ineligible at their assigned high school. They must be enrolled at a state-certified public or private educational institution, an approved home-based student or active in a GED program sponsored by a local organization. Players in the 18-22 group must be high school graduate or an approved home-based student function. Players must be employed on a part- or full-time basis. The athlete is not permitted to compete in any NCAA or NAIA-sanctioned athletics. All potential players for both age groups must take a drug screening test. Potential players will also undergo a complete physical examination before partcipating. Players for both age groups must submit personal health insurance, but optional insurance is available for those in need. If interested in playing, telephone coach Richard Bailey at (919) 222-6095 from 9 a.m.-10 p.m. Monday thru Saturday. Bailey is also seeking coaches, administrative personnel, a board of advisors, marketing assistance and team sponsors.
