Kyle Bunn poured in a team-high 28 points Wednesday night as the Rosewood Eagles rallied to beat Parrott Academy 66-56 to secure their second win of the season.

Rosewood (2-10) trailed for most of the contest and was behind 47-40 with less than six minutes to play. The Eagles, however, held the Patriots (6-7) to no field goals for the next four-plus minutes, outscoring Parrott Academy 18-5 during that span to grab the lead for good.

"We kept battling all night," Rosewood coach Daniel Mitchell said. "We were behind most of the game, but they were determined and showed a lot of heart."

Brick Crowder, who scored a game-high 29 points for Parrott, hit a layup with 1:02 to play to slice Rosewood's lead to four. But the Eagles calmly sank 8-of-10 free throws during the final 31.7 seconds to push their lead to 10 and put the game away. Holt Rains, who finished with 12 points for Rosewood, was 5-of-6 from the stripe during the last 20 seconds, with his lone miss coming with just 1.1 ticks left on the clock.

"We shot free throws well in the fourth quarter," said Mitchell, whose team finished up 17-of-21 (81 percent) from the line against the Patriots. "That allowed us to keep the lead."

Rosewood trailed 15-14 after one quarter, was behind 28-23 at the break, and still trailed 44-40 going into the final period. But the home team erupted to outscore Parrott 26-12 in the final frame.

"We came into this season as an inexperienced team," said Mitchell, whose team will open conference play at Ayden-Grifton on Friday. "But we're starting to mature. Hopefully, we can keep battling, stay focused and continue to improve as the season progresses."
