Saints reach finals against White Oak

JACKSONVILLE -- Delawn Armwood sizzled the nets for a game-high 32 points and Southern Wayne dumped Jones Senior 107-71 in semifinal-round play in the Home Team Athletics Holiday Classic on Thursday evening.
The Saints (8-1) oppose White Oak, the tournament host, in today's championship game at 7:30 p.m. Jones Senior plays Northside for third place at 6 p.m.
Armwood hit six 3-pointers and led four Southern Wayne players in double figures. Akeem Royal provided 17 points, followed by Jon Hart and Andre Langston with 12 each. Ashton Langston came off the bench to score eight points.
"Delawn played pretty well and bounced back from a below-average game the first day," said second-year Saints coach Mike Connelley. "We had two guys off the bench to score 12 each and Ashton gave us another big guy in the there.
"(The offense) was pretty balanced."
Deandra McDaniel paced Jones Senior with 21 points. Demaris Hargett chipped in 18 points. Jamari White and Deadra Barfield recorded 11 and 10 points, respectively.
