WARSAW -- Princeton's Ryan Daughtry and Will Gainey had 12 points each as the Bulldogs fell 64-42 at James Kenan on Monday.

The Tigers led 16-11 after one period, before opening up a 30-17 lead at the break. James Kenan took a 47-26 advantage into the fourth quarter.

James Kenion led the Tigers with 17 points, while teammate Shawn Wilson dropped in 12.

Both teams return to action today as Princeton (4-7) hosts Rocky Mount Prep, while Kenan travels to Rocky Point to face Heide Trask.

tops Cougars

Goldsboro's Jameson Wellington had a team-best 13 points in the Cougars' 65-61 loss at home to Jones Senior on Monday.

Leonard Compton added 11 points, while Tavon Murchison pulled down 11 rebounds. Kevonta McDuffie chipped in eight points and 12 rebounds for the Cougars (5-3), who host Smithfield-Selma on Wednesday.

Middle schools

Norwayne girls 29, Grantham 20 -- Beth Carter paced the Lady Cobras with 10 points. Christina Glaspie led Grantham with seven points. Both teams return to action on Jan. 5 as Norwayne (5-1, 1-1) travels to Rosewood, while Grantham hosts Spring Creek.

Goldsboro girls 30, Spring Creek 28 -- Goldsboro's Zeara McDuffie led all scorers with 18 points. Tajanae Stewart paced Spring Creek. Goldsboro (2-4, 2-0) hosts Mount Olive on Jan. 5, while Spring Creek travels to Grantham.

Greenwood girls 44, Brogden 24 -- Tia Jones had a game-high 16 points and eight rebounds for Greenwood, while teammate Tiarra McIntyre had nine points and four assists. Brogden's Ebony Brooks led her team with nine points. Greenwood (6-0, 3-0) hosts Dillard on Jan. 5, while Brogden entertains Eastern Wayne.

Eastern Wayne girls 24, Rosewood 13 -- Cathy Benjamin had eight points, six rebounds and five steals for the Lady Warriors, while teammate Alta Black had eight points and six boards. April Rains led Rosewood with six points. Eastern Wayne (5-1, 1-1) travels to Brogden on Jan. 5, while Rosewood hosts Norwayne.

Dillard boys 57, Mount Olive 45 -- Braddock Gross led Dillard with 16 points, while Chris Suggs and Terry Moore chipped in 11 points each. Mount Olive's Justin Artis scored nine points. Dillard (5-1, 3-0) travels to Greenwood on Jan. 5, while Mount Olive travels to Goldsboro.

Eastern Wayne boys 70, Rosewood 30 -- Will White led three Warriors in double figuers with 20 points, while Hassan Best and Jacar Kelly had 12 and 10 points, respectively. Lamar Best added seven steals and five assists for Eastern Wayne (6-0, 2-0). Scott Pate scored eight points for Rosewood. On Jan. 5, the Warriors travel to Brogden, while Rosewood hosts Norwayne.

Brogden boys 38, Greenwood 33 -- Bernard Gross led the way for Brogden, while Trey Thornton tallied 11 points for Greenwood. Greenwood (2-4, 0-2) hosts Dillard on Jan. 5., while Brogden entertains Eastern Wayne.

Goldsboro boys 47, Spring Creek 22 -- Goldsboro improved to 4-2 overall and 2-0 in conference play. Goldsboro hosts Mount Olive on Jan. 5., while Spring Creek travels to Grantham.
