Rosewood's Shanita Monroe led the way with 11 points as the Eagles improved to 5-2 with a 53-27 win at home over Hobbton on Wednesday.

Clare Narron added 10 points for Rosewood, while teammates Courtney Hill and Kasie Braswell had nine and eight points, respectively.

Tracy Williams paced Hobbton with seven points.

Rosewood held the Wildcats to eight points at halftime, before leading 37-14 after three quarters.

The Eagles will look to avenge a loss earlier this season when they face Midway on Friday at home.

Eagles suffer

home loss

Rosewood's Brantley Ellis paced three Eagles in double figures in a 60-50 loss at home to Hobbton on Wednesday.

The Wildcats jumped out to an 17-12 lead after the first quarter, then moved ahead 35-23 at the break. Rosewood outscored the visitors 27-25 after intermission.

Stephen McIntyre dropped in 11 points for Rosewood (0-7), while Kyle Bunn contributed 10.

Hobbton's Ty Teachey led all scorers with 20 points.

The Eagles host Midway on Friday.

NEWTON GROVE -- Spring Creek's Dalreese Bell pumped in 30 points with five rebounds and four steals as the Gators suffered a tough 71-68 loss at Hobbton on Tuesday.

Spring Creek (4-4) also got 21 points from Josh Wright, while Daniel Chewning added 10 points.

Kenyon Stevens posted a team-high 21 points for the Wildcats as teammates Wayne Strickland and Ty Teachey had 12 and 11 points, respectively. Hobbton suffered a one-point loss to the Gators earlier this season in Seven Springs.

The two non-conference foes combined to shoot 66 free throws. Spring Creek trailed by 12 after three quarters, but rallied back to outscore Hobbton 30-21 in the fourth quarter to pull within striking distance.

Three of Spring Creek's four losses have been by three points or less.

"We're six points away from being 7-1," Gators' coach Sonny Kilpatrick said.

Bryan Jones added nine points for Rosewood, which improved to 3-4 on the season.

Hobbton's Joseph Williams scored a game-best 24 points for the Wildcats.

The Eagles host Midway on Friday.

SMITHFIELD -- Southern Wayne's Justin Mitchell scored 15 points and pulled down nine rebounds for the Saints in a 50-44 win at Smithfield-Selma on Tuesday.

Silonte Thompson and Paris Armwood added 10 points each for the Saints (3-3), who travel to Goldsboro on Friday. Daquan Braswell added 10 boards for Southern Wayne.
