MOUNT OLIVE -- Teneal Boone tallied 24 points, nine rebounds and a career-high six blocked shots to lead Mount Olive to a 73-45 victory over Chowan in a non-conference women's basketball contest Wednesday evening at Kornegay Arena.

Thirteen different players scored for the Trojans, who led from start to finish.

Mount Olive (5-1) scored the first six points of the game and built a 10-2 lead after a layup by Anita Rogers. Chowan (5-4) pulled within two as Christina Addison's three-point play sparked a 6-0 run. But Tomeka Prichard and LeAnne Simms connected on three-pointers during a 14-2 run to give Mount Olive a 30-15 lead with 4:15 left in the first half and the Trojans led by double figures the rest of the way.

Mount Olive built the lead to as many as 16 points and went into halftime with a 38-24 lead.

The Trojans boosted their advantage to 17 points early in the second half after Boone's putback gave Mount Olive a 44-27 lead with 16:50 left in the game. Chowan chipped away at the lead as Joi Hazel and Keyon Sellers combined for 6-of-6 free throws and Addison's 3-pointer pulled the Braves within 48-38 with 14:21 remaining.

But Mount Olive put the game away with a 14-2 run, ignited by Prichard's steal and layup and capped by Boone's sixth block of the game and her fast break layup off of Simms' outlet pass, as the Trojans built the lead to 62-40 with 6:15 remaining. Chowan never got closer than 19 points the rest of the way as both teams emptied their benches during the final minutes.

Boone was 12-for-17 from the field as Mount Olive shot 51.6 percent from the field, marking the third time in six games the Trojans shot 50 percent or better. Rogers scored eight points for Mount Olive, as did Sierra Medeiros, who also pulled down a career-high nine rebounds.

Tawana Tucker notched a double-double for Chowan with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Sellers finished with 11 points and three steals, while Hazel added 10 points. Tucker and Sellers had nine points apiece in the first half.
